DMCA

At KarenFlavor, recipes are shared through food photography, written instructions, cooking tips, and other visual content that helps readers prepare meals at home. We understand that images and creative works represent time, skill, and effort. This page explains how KarenFlavor approaches third-party content, how copyright owners can contact us about their work, and how to submit a formal copyright complaint under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA).

Respect for the People Behind Creative Work

KarenFlavor respects the intellectual property rights of photographers, recipe developers, writers, artists, and other creators. We recognize that a photograph, recipe excerpt, illustration, or other creative work may be important to its owner, both personally and professionally.

Our intention is to publish useful recipe content while respecting the rights of others. If you believe something on KarenFlavor uses your copyrighted work without proper authorization, we welcome you to contact us. We will take your concern seriously and review the information you provide.

If You Find Your Work on KarenFlavor

If you are a copyright owner or an authorized representative and discover your work on KarenFlavor, you have three options. We want to make it straightforward to tell us what needs attention.

  1. Request credit or attribution. If you believe your work may remain on the site with appropriate acknowledgment, contact us to discuss the credit or attribution you would like included.
  2. Request a change to its presentation. If the concern relates to how your work is displayed, captioned, attributed, or presented alongside recipe content, you may request a modification.
  3. Request complete removal. If you prefer that the material not appear on KarenFlavor, contact us with the relevant page URL and enough detail to identify the work. We will review your request promptly.

For informal image and copyright requests, email [email protected]. Please include the page address and a short explanation of your concern. We aim to respond within 48 hours, although complex cases may require additional review.

These informal options do not replace the formal notice procedure described below. If you want to submit a statutory DMCA notice, please include all required information.

Our Good-Faith Approach to Images and Other Material

KarenFlavor aims to use third-party images, quotations, and excerpts only when we believe their use is permitted, such as through applicable fair use principles under Section 107 of the United States Copyright Act, a suitable Creative Commons license, public-domain status, or another valid authorization.

We do not intend to infringe anyone’s copyright or other intellectual property rights. However, a good-faith belief does not establish that every use is legally permitted, and copyright questions can depend on the particular work, license, circumstances, and applicable law.

If you own material appearing on KarenFlavor and believe we have misunderstood its copyright status or licensing terms, please let us know. We will review the circumstances and consider an appropriate response, which may include adding attribution, changing the presentation, or removing the material.

How to Reach Us About Copyright Concerns

The primary contact for copyright questions, attribution requests, image modifications, and removal requests is:

Email: [email protected]

Please use a subject line such as “Copyright Request” and include the relevant URL. For formal DMCA notices, provide the statutory information listed in the next section. Submitting complete details helps KarenFlavor identify the material and assess the request.

Formal DMCA Takedown Procedure

KarenFlavor respects applicable copyright law and responds to notices submitted in accordance with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, including 17 U.S.C. § 512. A copyright owner or an agent authorized to act on the owner’s behalf may submit a formal notification identifying material alleged to infringe copyright.

To be considered a compliant DMCA notification, the notice must include all six of the following elements:

  1. A physical or electronic signature of the person authorized to act on behalf of the owner of the copyrighted work that has allegedly been infringed.
  2. Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed, or if multiple works are covered by a single notification, a representative list of such works.
  3. Identification of the material that is claimed to be infringing or to be the subject of infringing activity, with information reasonably sufficient to permit the site to locate the material, such as the URL.
  4. Information reasonably sufficient to permit the site to contact the complaining party, including a mailing address, telephone number, and email address.
  5. A statement of good-faith belief that the complaining party has a good-faith belief that use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
  6. A statement of accuracy and authority that the information in the notification is accurate, and under penalty of perjury, that the complaining party is authorized to act on behalf of the owner of an exclusive right that is allegedly infringed.

Send formal DMCA notices to [email protected]. Please use the subject line “Formal DMCA Takedown Notice” and include the information above in your message.

After receiving a notice, KarenFlavor will review it and take appropriate action in accordance with applicable law. Where warranted, this may include removing the identified material or disabling access to it. We may contact the sender if additional information is needed to locate the content or assess whether the notice meets the legal requirements.

Submitting a notice does not automatically establish that infringement occurred. Each notice will be assessed based on the information supplied and the applicable legal requirements.

If Material Was Removed by Mistake

Under 17 U.S.C. § 512(g), a person who believes their material was removed or disabled because of a mistake or misidentification may submit a counter-notification. A counter-notification must contain the following elements:

  1. A physical or electronic signature of the subscriber or other person submitting the counter-notification.
  2. Identification of the material that was removed or disabled and the location where the material appeared before it was removed or access to it was disabled.
  3. A statement under penalty of perjury that the subscriber or other person has a good-faith belief that the material was removed or disabled as a result of mistake or misidentification of the material.
  4. The person’s name, address, and telephone number, together with a statement consenting to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for the judicial district in which the address is located, or, if the person’s address is outside the United States, to the jurisdiction of any judicial district in which the service provider may be found, and a statement that the person will accept service of process from the person who provided the original notification or that person’s agent.

Send counter-notifications to [email protected], with the subject line “DMCA Counter-Notification.” KarenFlavor will review a complete counter-notification and handle it in accordance with applicable law. A counter-notification may trigger statutory procedures and timelines, and restoration of material is not guaranteed.

Repeat Copyright Infringement

KarenFlavor maintains a policy of terminating, in appropriate circumstances, the access or participation of users who are repeat copyright infringers. We may also take other measures permitted by law when circumstances warrant.

False or Misleading Copyright Claims

Under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f), any person who knowingly materially misrepresents that material or activity is infringing, or that material or activity was removed or disabled by mistake or misidentification, may be liable for damages, including costs and attorneys’ fees, incurred by the alleged infringer, the copyright owner or its authorized licensee, or the service provider.

Please submit copyright notices and counter-notifications only when you have a good-faith basis for the statements made in them. KarenFlavor takes legitimate copyright concerns seriously and expects notices to be accurate and submitted in good faith.
